After an extremely chilly festive day out in York finding Valentinos on The Mount in York, this lovely Italian was a perfect end to the day. There was 4 of us, two couples. We had worked up quite an appetite walking around the city all day (as well as stopping for a few drinks to keep us warm) and ready for a hearty Italian meal. Valentinos a little bit of a walk out of the city centre beyond Micklegate Bar on The Mount, but well worth it for a bit of a quiet restaurant out of the mega busy party weekend parties.
Good for: Romantic meals, Birthdays, Weekend treats, Special Occasions, Good Italian
The restaurant is bright (bordering on garish, but bareable) restaurant on the busy main road leading up to Micklegate the entrance to the city centre. The decor is has flamboyant accents with a clean simple mediterranean feel.
What we drank:
– Peronis for the boys
– Rose blush wine for the girls
What we ate:
– Goats Cheese
– Burrata with Parma Ham
– Creamed Mushrooms
– Breaded Mozzarella
– Chicken Kebabs
– Pollo Aragosta
– Luxury Chocolate Pavlova
– Homemade Cheesecake
What we thought:
Food was really impressive, great Italian dishes, service was prompt and the waiting staff were helpful. We were really pleased we found the restaurant, the staff were very patient as we were the last table in the restaurant and felt no pressure to leave. We definitely recommend this restaurant and the staff. A great restaurant that is versatile to be a lovely mid-week catch up with friends, to a nice romantic weekend meal. Shame we don’t live closer, I would totally have that Luxury Chocolate Pavlova again!
Try it out and see what you think. We would love to hear from you.
